The Blue fox tail agave is a section of A. attenuata, and gets its name from its distinctive blue-gray foliage color. It develops a strong rosette shape comprised of thick, bold leaves to form plants 3-5 ft. in size. This selection of agave will grow for many years before flowering and can develop 1-2 ft. tall trunks. Mature plants will develop long arching flower stalks covered with thousands of small yellow and cream colored flowers. This provides a striking floral display for 1-2 months.
Blue fox tail agave is a handsome foliage and flowering accent plant in southwestern and Mediterranean style gardens. It grows best in sunny locations and with low to very low amounts of supplemental water throughout summer. It is used in containers, raised planters and in group plantings on slopes and banks.
