Green lavender cotton

Santolina rosmarinifolia

Description

Green lavender cotton is a small mounding shrub to 2 ft. high, spreading 3 ft. wide. Deep emerald-green scale-like leaves contrast boldly against bright yellow flowers during spring. It produces a very fresh and lush foliage character in dry garden settings.

Native to the Mediterranean region, this species provides deep green foliage character in addition to soft texture and bright flower color. The best growth occurs in full sun, on well-drained soils and with low amounts of supplemental water. It can be trimmed to function as a neat border plant, planted in rock gardens, on banks and in Mediterranean style plantings.
