Pink rockrose

Cistus x skanbergii

This rockrose hybrid is highly popular for its soft pink flowers and fine textured foliage. It develops into a low spreading shrub 18-24 in. high and 4-5 ft. wide. Foliage is comprised of small gray-green leaves; large numbers of 1 in. diameter pink flowers cover the plant in early spring.

Pink rockrose is adapted to garden areas with full sun, summer heat and low amounts of supplemental water. Its spreading habit lends it to erosion control on slopes and banks, and mixed with other flowering plants in Mediterranean garden plantings. When planted in border areas it can be clipped and shaped into a hedge 3-4 high.
